Preparing Students for the Real World with LCE

As educators, one of our most important goals is to prepare students to become fully participating members of their communities. And for students with disabilities, the life skills education and training they acquire in school may be the only resources they receive to help them transition from being students to life as independent and productive adults.

  1. Hello,

I have been in special education for nearly 20 years. Recently, I started a blog (www.cookbehavior.com). I am a doctoral graduate from the University of Kansas and studied under Dr. Mike Wehmeyer (just to let you know that I do know what I’m talking about 🙂 . I would love to speak on your podcast if you are looking for guests. I spent 15 years as a special education teacher. I worked at middle and high school level, then to elementary in a partially self-contained classroom for students with autism and ID. I was then an autism consultant for 3 years and am currently a special education assistant director. I love working with teachers and families and would love the chance to be part of your podcast. I am also a member of CEC. Thank you for your consideration.
